So, last week on Tuesday I found out that I am getting my bonus this year! I was so excited because I had really been preparing myself to not get it (or get very little of it) due to the economy. So, I was so happy that we could use the bonus to pay for the nursery furniture, stroller, car seat, and other baby stuff and still hopefully have a little left over to get us by when I'm out on maternity leave.
Then, later that week MrKLB found out that he got a raise! It was a small raise, but a raise nonetheless. We were on cloud 9. We celebrated over the weekend.
Well, as the title of this post says, "Easy come, easy go..." because this past Tuesday MrKLB was laid off. :(
Yuck. This was a total surprise (who gets a raise 1 week before they get laid off??) and MrKLB is pretty upset about it. I am upset, too, but trying to be positive for him. We can use my bonus to help us get through financially (meanwhile the nursery furniture will sit on my credit card) so I'm not overly concerned about that, assuming he finds another job soon. The thing that bothers me is that a) MrKLB liked his job so I hate that he lost it and b) his schedule was so flexible that it was really going to be convenient when the baby comes. Now I don't know if he'll even get any time off when the baby comes and that makes me sad. I guess I need to just hope he has a job by then, though, and worry about the time off later. I'm still bummed, though.
So, anyway, the good news is that I am now over 25 weeks pregnant and things are still going great. I have been running and going to the gym pretty regularly lately so I'm proud of myself for that. We know we are blessed to be having this baby at all and are even more blessed that my pregnancy has been so uneventful. I am trying to concentrate on those positive things for now.
Send job dust our way and hope that MrKLB finds a job he loves soon!

Nursery Furniture!
We have nursery furniture!! Yay! MrKLB and his friend Dave went to pick up our nursery furniture this week. So, our empty room finally has furniture in it! I'm so excited and I love it! Here are a few pics of the individual pieces... we have a lot of decorating to do and need curtains and bedding, but here it is:
This is the crib that converts into a toddler bed and a full size bed. Mickey Mouse is testing it out for us!:

This is the dresser with the removable changing table that we got so that we don't have to lean over to change diapers (I'm 5'10" and MrKLB is 6'3"):

And this is the night stand. We thought this would be nice to have later when we convert the crib to a full size bed.

Also, MrKLB has been a busy guy this week because he is stripping the paint off a glider at ottoman that a friend gave us so that we can stain it to match the rest of the furniture. It's a Dutalier glider that was white and had plaid cushions. My mother is recovering the cushions for me and MrKLB is working on the wood. A team effort! :) Here are some "in progress" pics. I'll be sure to post "After" pics when it's done.
This is the chair (minus the cushion) before:

This is the bottom part of the glider while MrKLB is working on stripping and sanding it:

And in this picture you can see that all of the paint is gone from the bottom part of the glider and ottoman and only the top part of the chair still has paint:

So, lots of progress being made and I'm excited to see how it looks when they're done! Happy Friday everyone!

Update and pics
I will be 24 weeks pregnant tomorrow and I had an appointment with my OB this morning. They just weighed me, took my blood pressure, listened to the baby's heartbeat, and measured my growth. Things look fantastic! The baby's heart rate was 150 which they said was good and everything else is measuring right on track. So, no complaints here! I go back in 4 weeks to take the 1 hour Glucose Tolerance Test to see if I have gestational diabetes. Hopefully I'll pass that test because I don't want to have to go back and take the 3 hour test! After that I'll be going in every 2 weeks until I reach 36 weeks or so and then I'll go in weekly!
So, MrKLB has been taking photos of my every week to see how my belly is growing. Here is the one for this week:

Oh, and I got my hair cut last week and wanted something different, so my stylist cut a bunch of layers into my hair. You can't really tell in the picture above, though, because it was morning and I was a bit of a mess. Anyway, MrKLB loves the hair and I think I like it, but it's taking some getting used to. I'm not as good at drying the layers as my stylist is!
On Friday MrKLB and I went to buy our nursery furniture! So exciting! When we got there we picked everything out and when I asked her to check on availability she said "Uh oh! The crib won't be coming in until the end of May." I was so disappointed because when I was there just a few weeks ago she had said that stock looked good and it should only take about 4 weeks for us to get it. She didn't think she'd get the next deliveries until early June if they are backordered until May! So, she said, "Well, I have the crib and dresser you want on the floor and I have the nightstand and changing tray in stock so you could just buy what I already have if you're okay with it." She had just put the dresser out some time in the past week and the crib was relatively new, too (she had just gotten it when I was there a few weeks ago), so we said sure! So, we brought home the nightstand, mattress, and changing tray and MrKLB is going back this week to pick up the crib and dresser! So exciting! I can't wait to see it all in the nursery! This is the collection we went with, but we just got the crib, dresser, and nightstand (not all of the pieces shown). I'll post pics of our actual pieces when we get them.

The baby continues to kick away, which is exciting. I'm still running and feeling great. I'm getting close to the third trimester so here's hoping I continue to feel well and the little boy continues to grow strong!

Hello stretchy pants!
Well, I'm 23 weeks pregnant today and am officially on to maternity pants! It was a good run while it lasted, but it seems I need to retire my non-maternity jeans for a while. I can still wear them with the rubber band trick, but as many of my friends who have been there have told me, the maternity pants with the stretchy waist are really just way more comfortable! :)
Speaking of friends, I just have to say that I have some of the best girlfriends ever! They have just been awesome through this whole experience so far! Alison has let me borrow a ton of maternity clothes already and is sending me more this weekend! Also, she is sending me some baby boy clothes, so I'm excited about that! Mandi, Sara, and Jaime are planning a baby shower for me and I can't wait to get together with all of my friends! Jaime is also reviewing my registry to help me figure out what I've missed and what I do and don't need, and Carrie helped me find a free breastfeeding class that I'm going to take in June and sent me a great list that I used when creating my registry. Jenny is currently pregnant and due in April and it has been wonderful to follow behind her on this journey! So, thank you ladies!
I have recently discovered the joys of consignment shopping. So far I've really only been shopping for clothes, but it's so fun! I went to a store this weekend that has both maternity clothes and baby clothes on consignment and I bought a few things for myself and a few things for baby. So fun!
Speaking of shopping, MrKLB took me to see Confessions of a Shopaholic this weekend and I really enjoyed it. Funny thing is the baby was kicking through the entire movie! I think that means he liked it. :) The kicks were so strong that MrKLB was able to feel many of the kicks. Until then, he had only managed to feel him kick once because it seemed that any time I felt the strong kicks I was at work or away from home. Anyway, most of the kicks are strong now and MrKLB has felt a lot of them. Very cool!
What else? I'm still running and have actually been running with the dogs twice in the past 3 days. I also tried out a prenatal yoga DVD workout that Alison gave me and I think I really enjoyed it. I've never done yoga before, so it was different, but after I finished I felt really stretched out, which was great! I think I'm going to try to do it a couple of times a week to make sure I stretch well. I plan to do it today when I get home from work!
That's all for now. My next OB appointment is scheduled for next Monday, but I think it's going to be a boring appointment. No ultrasound and nothing exciting other than a checkup. Then my next appointment at 28 weeks is the one where I'll be tested for gestational diabetes. Let's hope that goes well so that I don't have to take the 3 hour glucose test!

22 weeks tomorrow!
I will be 22 weeks pregnant tomorrow! Wow! Time is just flying by! Things are going well and I really can't complain. I do feel particularly fat today (I washed my jeans and now they are not buttoning as easily as before), but other than that I feel good.
The little guy is still just kicking away. I feel him at least once every day. Usually when I feel it I feel a few kicks in a row. MrKLB actually got to feel him kick on Thursday night! We were laying in bed and I was feeling him kick and MrKLB put his hand on my stomach and all of a sudden he kicked! MrKLB jerked his hand away and said "Whoa! I felt it!" It was really strange for him, but also amazing. More than seeing my belly grow and more than hearing the heartbeat on the doppler or seeing the images from the ultrasound, this was his first real interaction with his son. Really cool. Oh, I actually felt him kick just now! (Seems to be common after lunch!)
MrKLB and I stopped by a consignment sale on Thursday afternoon and bought 4 cute little things for the baby. We got 2 polo shirts and 2 polo onesies. They are so cute and MrKLB was so proud that his son will be so well dressed. LOL! We got each of them for $5 so that was the best part! Also, we had a coupon for carseats at Babies R Us so we went there on Friday and ended up getting an infant car seat. Then we took it home and practiced putting it in the car. MrKLB is really funny... he keeps carrying the thing around the house and talking about how his little baby will be in there soon. I can tell he is really excited. We actually call him by name now when we're alone, but we're keeping the name a secret until he is born so I have to be careful not to type it here. :)
I'm supposed to be heading up to NYC for work this afternoon but I'm not sure if I'll make it. We actually got several inches of snow here yesterday and the northeast is supposed to be getting dumped on today. So, we'll see if my flight actually takes off or gets canceled. I wish they would cancel it BEFORE I go to the airport if that's the case, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Anyway, assuming I make it I'll be in NYC through Wednesday night.
That's all for now. Moving on to week 23!
