We just got back last night from Aspen. It was a good trip for a couple of days, but then I got really sick and had to go to the ER. That was NOT a fun experience. I was concerned about the baby after being sick for so long and getting dehydrated. My blood pressure was too high for pregnancy and I was a mess. I got 2 bags of fluids and some anti-nausea medicine and they hooked me up to some oxygen. I also had an ultrasound and even though their machine was crappy and you couldn't really see anything, he could see that the baby was moving around so things seemed fine. I was relieved. I had the best doctor and nurse there... they really were great!
So, after a couple of hours I started feeling better and we went back to the condo. Then I started feeling worse again. The car ride triggered it and it pretty much lasted all day, even with the anti-nausea medicine they prescribed. Ugh. Well, long story short it seems to have finally subsided and I made it home yesterday - very thankfully! I was able to sleep entirely through the night last night, which is a big improvement. I also finally at some chicken soup, which is the first thing I've eaten in 2 days! I weighed myself this morning and I was 6.5 pounds lighter than when we left on Wednesday morning! If I weren't pregnant I'd think that was a cool benefit of being sick... as it is, though, it concerns me. I already have an appointment with my OB for Thursday, so I guess I'll get checked out then.
I most likely had some sort of stomach virus, but the doctor said it was made worse by the high altitude and the fact that I'm pregnant. It was a pretty scary experience and I don't remember the last time I felt that awful, but I'm happy to finally be feeling better now. I'm still really weak and barely able to eat, but I am definitely getting better.
